Entertaining cut from Ludacris’s upcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape. Normally, I can’t deal with Ludacris, but his lyrics and flow is on point here.
Naturally, the Obama camp has distanced itself from the freestyle, because of its offensive statements. As you heard, Ludacalls Hillary Clinton a “bitch,” says McCain should be paralyzed, plus more. Obama spokesman Bill Burton said that “Ludacris is a talented individual, but he should be ashamed of these lyrics.” Additionally, “As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to.” Same old stuff.
I commend Ludacris for spitting this freestyle, but I’m not sure if this helps Barack’s campaign, if that was its intended purpose. In a recent Rolling Stone article, Obama mentioned that he was a Ludacris fan. Luda even referred to that in the freestyle. Because pop culture and politics are so closely aligned, this somewhat affiliates Ludacris with Barack’s camp. Comments such as Luda’s only bring negative attention to Barack, and he doesn’t need anymore of that. Although he attempted to do something positive, he ultimately wound up in the same boat as Jeremiah Wright and Jesse Jackson, two people he called out in the song.
Peace

I think it is so good that Black people are coming together and supporting Obama. I think that it is even more great that rappers and other entertainers are promoting support and telling us to go out and vote. However, I think that we need to be careful of what we say. We are not in a position to just say whats on our mind. We have to learn how to be both smart and crafty with our words. Unfortantly we live in a country where a Black president is new to the country, and they want to find reasons to make Obama out to not be the right choice. If we really want to support him, we will be political in our words. Its a way to get to the top of anything, it just takes being smarter than \”them\”.
Luda definitely found himself in that grey area… that place between being damn right, and damned lol…. Either way he was gonna have to talk a loss. And Being that Politics is a game, Obama had to play it that way. Im sure Obama called Luda and apologized for what “had to be done.” Catch em on the greens next week….
Luda def did his thing. I\’m not mad. But it sucks that Luda\’s opinion affects Obama\’s campaign to the point where he had to \”denounce\” the song. WTF?!

He told the truth! People don’t like to hear the truth. i wouldn’t say Hilary’s a bitch. but you also gotta understand that in hip hop talking about women often refers to them as bitches whether or not they’re tryin to give them a negative connation. i mean a bitch can just mean a women in a very casual way. not necessarily calling her out or trying to offend her. but it CAN also be meant to offend and degrade them. like “you’re just a bitch. and that’s all you’ll ever be is a bitch.” i think that Luda was just using Hilary being called a bitch as calling her a woman in a very casual way. but it sounds like he was also calling her out too cuz he favors Obama and criticizes her for going against Obama.
^^Good interpretation. I agree. I also understand why Barack had to distance himself from the track.
ahhh black people
Guess what I’ve just posted a thing similar on the subject off Ludacris “Obama is Here” Freestyle Controversy | Straight Gangsterism on my blog yesterday. How smaller is the net
