Legendary African-American comedian and actor Rudy Ray Moore died from complications of diabetes on October 19, 2008. Moore is most known for his portrayal the pimp Dolemite in the film of the same name and its sequal, The Human Tornado. Moore also performed a brand of comedy even more raunchy than contemporaries Red Foxx and Richard Pryor. Moore’s work was a huge influence on rap music, especially the gangsta and x-rated rap that came out of Los Angeles and Bay Areas of California. Moore was 81.

Here’s Ol Dirty Bastard’s (RIP) “Got Your Money” video which used scenes from Dolemite.
