Mystikal is a legend. He never got the respect he deserved mostly because of where he was from (New Orleans, LA), but also because he blew up off of stripper anthems. But I’m not talking about that Mystikal. I’m talking about the fiery, rage-filled, dookie braid wearin’ cat that dropped the classic Mind of Mystikal (1995) and Unpredictable (1997) on Big Boy and No Limit Records respectively. Unlike the rest of the country, I didn’t check out Mystikal’s post-No Limit work (ex. “Shake It Fast,” “Danger”), but in the mid to late 1990s, Mystikal was a monster. He’s been locked up since 2004 on sexual assault (terrible) and tax-evasion charges. He’s due to be reased this year.
