This is a discussion that I have had privately and have seen electronically. In the wake of Michael Jackson’s death, people are now re-examining his influence on music. In this context, the Beatles are often credited as being the only artists to have a similar or greater impact on popular music. This debate can get really intense and often polarizing along a number of lines (race, age, etc). That being said, I would like to know what you all think. 1. Michael is not just the king of pop, he is also the “King of Videos.” Because he was the one who started the music videos. With, THRILLER, BEAT IT, & BILLIE JEAN. Michael set the stage for everybody & every artist of today’s generation, like Usher, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, & all the others. Michael CHANGED the whole music world with his videos & dancing, & he started the new generation.

Like the MOONWALK, remember Motown 25, an event televised infront of a worldwide audience. Michael was electrifying the audience with his dancing, then you hit the part where he does the moonwalk for the first time, & the whole world goes, OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!, WHAT WAS THAT!?!?!!!!!!?!.

But there is no doubt that the Bealtes popularised Indian music and Indian culture in the west more than any other popular music act. Musically and culturally, the Beatles did more to shape the world than any artist before or since. In an 7 year period they made 12 quality albums. Prolific by any standards. Only Prince, to my mind, matches that statistic. Jackson made 2 quality albums: Off the Wall and Thriller. The rest were anywhere between good and awful. I’d rank him way below the Beatles, Queen, U2, David Bowie, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Prince, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley and Sting (that’s just off the top of my head).

where the sale of each ALBUM was estimated by converting 1 album sale to 6 UNITS.
Conversion is as follows:
1 ALBUM = 6 UNITS
1 EP = 2 UNITS
1 SINGLE = 1 UNIT
SINGLE = a song which is released as a standalone item
EP = (short for “extended play) a musical recording shorter than album , usually containing 4 songs.
ALBUM = an entire collection of music, composed of several songs.
Over time, the 1 billion UNITS has became 1 billion RECORDS – Chinese whispers! Through the years, the public had a confusion between 1 billion “RECORDS” sold against the supposed 1 billion “UNITS” sold.
